Sump Pump Installation in Atlanta, GA

If the basement or crawl space of your Atlanta, Georgia, home is prone to flooding during heavy rainstorms, or if you live in a flood zone and want to be prepared, Engineered Solutions of Georgia can install a reliable sump pump system. Our basement sump pump installation services are designed to collect and remove water before it can flood your home.

A sump pump is a motorized device that sits inside a basin, also called a sump pit, typically installed in the floor of a basement or crawl space. As water collects in the sump pit during heavy rain or flooding, the pump automatically activates and moves the water through a discharge line to a predetermined dispersal point safely away from your home.

Sump Pump Installation Process

A properly installed sump pump system provides a dedicated collection point for water and a reliable way to remove it from your home. Our sump pump installation process includes preparing the sump pit, installing primary and backup pumps, and sealing and finishing the area around the system.

Prepare the Sump Pit

Sump pump installation starts with excavating an opening approximately two feet wide and two feet deep into the floor of your basement or crawl space. We line the excavation with filter fabric to help prevent silt from entering the sump pit, then install a perforated sump basin and backfill around it with clean #57 drainage stone. This creates a collection point for water entering the drainage system.

Install the Sump Pump System

We install two sump pumps inside the sump basin: a primary pump for normal operation and a battery backup pump for additional protection. Backflow valves are installed on the discharge lines to help prevent pumped water from flowing back toward the sump pit.

The primary sump pump can typically remove up to 2,100 gallons of water per hour, helping protect your home when heavy rainfall or groundwater causes water levels to rise. The battery backup pump provides an additional layer of protection when the primary pump cannot operate, including during power outages.

Seal and Finish the Sump Pit

Once the pumps and discharge components are installed, we install a sealed sump lid and detail the surrounding floor or vapor barrier. We also connect the battery and charger to the backup pump so the system can continue operating during a power outage.

A sealed lid helps keep the sump pit covered during normal operation while still allowing convenient access to the pumps if they need to be inspected or serviced.

Benefits of a Sump Pump System

A sump pump system can provide an important layer of protection for homes that experience basement or crawl space water intrusion. In addition to automatically removing collected water, a properly installed system can provide backup protection and convenient access for maintenance.

Reliable Water Removal

A sump pump helps remove water that collects beneath your home before it can flood your basement or crawl space. The primary sump pump can typically remove up to 2,100 gallons of water per hour, helping protect your home during heavy rainfall and periods of increased groundwater.

Backup Protection During Power Outages

Heavy storms can create both flooding and power outages—the exact conditions when you may need your sump pump most. Our systems include a battery backup pump that can remove up to 13,000 gallons of water on a single battery charge, providing additional protection when the primary pump cannot operate.

Convenient Access for Maintenance

The sealed sump lid can be removed when the pumps need to be inspected or serviced, giving homeowners and technicians convenient access to the equipment while helping keep the sump pit covered when the system is operating normally.
